With preseason testing beginning in January and the awards banquet falling the week after Thanksgiving, NASCAR's season is the longest of any major American sport. Many drivers believe the season is too long but most don't see any changes in the foreseeable future.
The Cup schedule back in the 60's and early 70's was 48 races. Bill France then eliminated all tracks under a half mile kicking off the Modern Era of NASCAR and the schedule fluctuated between 28 and 31 races for 25 years. By 2001, the schedule increased to 36 races where it stands today.
Question? Is the NASCAR season too long....just right....or need to add more races?
